Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a search tool is sent to the third-party service operating that tool. That provider processes the query and supplies its result. This resource does not maintain or log those entered search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained so a response can be made. It is not disclosed outside the organization except when a legal obligation requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page is requested, the service may receive routine technical details about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored by a browser. They and analytics tools may show aggregate traffic patterns, such as pages viewed and visit paths. Browser controls can block cookies, although some features may respond differently when they are blocked.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, securing, and improving the resource
- Routing an entered query to the applicable partner service
- Measuring which material visitors use
- Diagnosing technical performance issues
- Delivering advertising that may be interest-related
No Court-Record Data on File
This resource does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case records. It provides general routes to Currituck County official records held by the Clerk of Superior Court, trial courts, and North Carolina eCourts Portal. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted to one is governed by that provider’s privacy policy and its own retention and sharing practices. Review the applicable policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links can lead to Clerk pages, trial-court services, North Carolina case-search systems, and other outside resources. Once a visitor leaves this resource, the linked party’s privacy practices control the visit. Read those terms before sharing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across services for interest-based advertising. That measurement occurs under their systems and policies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be received by:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used for data collected through the resource. Internet transmission and storage carry risk, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If a minor has provided such information, contact the operator so it can be removed.
Your Data Rights
North Carolina court-record access is governed in part by G.S. 7A-109, which makes clerk-maintained records available for public inspection unless another law limits access. G.S. 132-6.2 provides the general public-record copy framework and does not require an agency to create a record that does not exist. Those court-record rules do not change access restrictions on Currituck court files. For information held by this private resource, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
